Crazy Sexy Adventure Day 10: Reading Material

Another great spin class yesterday morning. The new RPM release just came out. New songs and new sequences. For the 100 pushup challenge afterwards, we did 4 sets of 10 regular push ups, 2 sets of 10 hand release push ups and finished with 2 sets of 20 regular push ups. Getting stronger!

For breakfast I had a toasted peice of buckwheat millet quick bread with peanut butter, banana and raspberries with a green energy smoothie on the side.

Once lunch rolled around, I had hoped to make sushi with some left over millet and roasted veggies

Nope.

Plan B was a stirfry with broccoli and snap peas. I simply slid the sushi mess into the skillet, added some Braggs aminos and sesame oil and called it lunch.

I had work all afternoon and had the usual tupperware salad beast and met a friend afterwards for yoga, a movie and a sleep over.

I’d like to think that I know some things about following a healthy, balanced, and delicious vegan diet. But I can certainly find myself stuck caught in a rut and eating the same thing meal after meal for the sake of ease. Here is a list of some of the blogs that have offered a  good dose of recipe inspiration for the cleanse (and the future!)

Happy reading!

Skeletons in the Closet

Monday’s lower body workout and yesterday’s hot yoga class (more warriors than should ever be allowed. Ever.) left me pretty exhausted today. When my alarm went off at 5:51 I decided an extra hour of sleep would be more beneficial than exercise today.

For breakfast I made a big bowl of oats with egg whites. I used to do this all the time and don’t know why I stopped! I put the oats into a dry pot to toast a bit, then add cinnamon, chia seeds, banana slices almond milk, and water. Once almost all the liquid has been absorbed/ evaporated, start pouring in your egg whites about a tablespoon at a time — I just use egg whites from a carton and about 1/4 c. Make sure you are stirring constantly! This makes for a custardy texture vs. scrambled eggs in your oats.

Topped with a little sucanat, trail mix and peanut butter. I took this up to bed to eat and eventually forced myself to get dressed and go to school.

I had been finding myself staring hopelessly into my closet many mornings thinking ‘I have NOTHING to wear’ My first order of business during school’s reading break was to go on a reckless shopping spree (we can all see where my priorities lie) to fill in all the gaps in my closet. My bank account was not happy with me.

Between school and work I met my friend Jamie and we went to Globefish for lunch. We split some shrimp skewers and each ordered a roll.

I had my usual, the Vancouver Roll with cucumber instead of avocado with brown rice. Plus my weight in pickled ginger.

Happy Humpday indeed!

Much Kneaded

Hi there! Hope everyone had a nice Saturday.

Today is my day off but somehow, I still found myself at work for a massage (I work at a Naturopathic clinic that offers Holistic Nutrition, counselling and Massage Therapy + sells eco-friendly, fair-trade and organic products)

My friend/ coworker Juliana is the fiercest massage therapist and her massages crush my soul. She is crazy strong for such a sweet heart.

It was her birthday this past week so we went to sushi after she kneaded all the crunchy bits out of my back

I got my one and only – Vancouver roll: tuna, salmon, cucumber, mango and gobs of wasabi.

Obligatory awkward mouthful photos:

We split an apple spice cupcake with caramel butter cream from Crave afterward

I spent the rest of the day wandering around the mall and now I’m curling up in my jammys infront of the (electric) fireplace with a cup of tea and catching up with Jersey Shore

Yoga Storm

After class today, I met up with my good friend Shifrah for sushi! Read her blog, you’ll love her as much as I do. We went to school together for ONE year in the 10th grade and have thankfully kept in touch, she’s one of my forever friends =)

We went to Globe Fish and I ordered a Vancouver Roll: Tuna, Salmon, Mango and cucumber instead of avocado. I love sushi but it makes me sad that my meal is over in 6 humungo bites

Miss Shifrah had Udon noodles and tempura

.

We shopped around for a bit and then my sweet tooth started itching, so I stifled my sweet craving with a peice of gum.

JUST KIDDING, LOOK AT YOUR FACE.

We went to Spoon me.

I’m usually all about the natural flavour with fruit and nuts but today I went ALL. OUT. and loaded up on chocolate and vanilla, sprinkles, oreo crumbles, toffee things, coconut, chocolate, peanuts and a caramel drizzle. Helluva buzz!

Oh, and a blackberry, because this is a healthy-lifestyle-kinda-sorta blog ;)

After we parted ways, I went to a yoga class taught by one of my favorite teachers (actually, I really adore all of the teachers at the Yoga Passage.) I knew that class was going to be good but this one left me weak in the knees and smiling until my face hurt. We practised in a silent, dark room with only a couple of candles lit, while a thunderstorm raged on outside. It was glorrrrious.

I’m going to read over my notes from class today and try to get into bed before 12 tonight!

Here’s some reading for you!

Itamae

^ That means sushi-chef in Japanese. I googled it.

Last night I was feeling feisty and made myself some sushi. Veggie sushi because I feel like I’ve been o.d.-ing on the fish lately, hey mercury, wassap.

One roll contained quinoa, tofu and asparagus that I quickly sautéed with a little soy-sauce

and the other had quinoa and crispy sweet potato fries

Ugly end peices. That went straight to my belly.

I really just wanted some soy sauce but the sushi was a nice accompaniment

Last day to get some hemp hearts !
